Under the leadership of 2023's Freeway League Swim Coach of the Year, Troy High School’s Head Coach for the Swim & Dive program, Coach Summer Driessen, our Warrior student-athletes can officially call 2023 the fastest season Troy Aquatics has seen in over a decade. Not only did our Warriors break both school and league records while improving their PB, but Coach Driessen made sure these kids would understand what it would feel like to be champions at the local, regional and states levels. And she made good on her word. Our Warriors clenched the 2023 Freeway League Championship title before heading to the CIF-SS Ford Championship and the CIF State Championship.

It is worth mentioning that under her guidance as Assistant Coach, Troy's Boys' Water Polo earned the title of Freeway League Champions at the Varsity level, while the JV team secured 2nd place in both the Freeway League and the JV Garden Grove Tournament. We should have known immediately that fresh off of a victorious season, Coach Driessen, was just getting started. She quickly found herself at the helm of Troy High School's Swim & Dive program for both the boys (D1) and girls (D2) teams paving the 2023 spring season way with broken record after broken record on both the Troy High School and Freeway League levels.

A graduate of Huntington Beach High School, Coach Driessen was a vital asset to both the Varsity Swim and Varsity Water Polo teams for all four years. Throughout her 13 years of competitive swimming, she also performed at the club level for Golden West Swim and Nova Aquatics.

Having earned her Bachelor of Arts in History, and Masters of Education from California State Polytechnic University, Coach Driessen is currently a faculty member of Troy High School’s Social Science Department teaching AP European History.

This is Coach Driessen's first year as Head Coach for the boys' and girls' swim team and under her leadership, numerous athletes have already shattered Troy High School's existing records set by past swimmers, broke Freeway League records, and countless have scored their PB. Thanks to her watchful eye, and her keen coaching skills, by mid-season, close to 20 swimmers had already qualified for CIF or clocked consideration times.

Coach Driessen's unwavering dedication has earned the loyalty, respect, and dedication of our Warrior student-athletes, the aquatics community, and fellow coaches, who named her Freeway League Swim Coach of the Year for 2023. Congrats, Coach Driessen on making Troy High School’s Swim Team the “Fastest in over a decade!”
