Swim Team Closes Freeway League Championship Week with Fun-Filled Day in Laguna Beach

The student-athletes of Troy High School's Swim program concluded their successful Freeway League Championship run with a memorable Beach Day at Crystal Cove State Park, organized by Head Coach Summer Driessen. This special event served as the perfect opportunity for team bonding and celebration following a remarkable season of achievements.

Coach Driessen orchestrated a Beach Day filled with sun, surf, and camaraderie as a way to commemorate the dedication and hard work of the athletes throughout the regular 2023 season. Held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, athletes gathered at Crystal Cove State Park to relax and enjoy the beautiful coastal surroundings.

Despite unforeseen circumstances leading to the cancellation of the planned Open Water Swim event, the student-athletes made the most of their time at the beach, engaging in beach games, soaking up the sun, and enjoying lunch at Orange County's iconic Shake Shack.

"We wanted to provide our team with a special day to unwind and celebrate their achievements," said Head Coach Summer Driessen. "It's moments like these that truly highlight the bond and camaraderie within our team."

Throughout the regular 2023 season, Troy's swimmers achieved remarkable milestones, including personal best times, shattered school and league records, championship titles, and CIF qualifications. The Beach Day served as a fitting conclusion to a season filled with dedication, perseverance, and success.
